The Abrahamic Movement Issues Appeal for Protection of Syria’s Alawite Community and All Civilians

Nigeria Chapter Special Envoy Ambassador Chimbo Obieze calls on international bodies and humanitarian agencies to protect civilians and ensure accountability amid reports of violence.

The Abrahamic Movement has issued a formal appeal expressing deep concern over reports of violence, killings, abductions, and human rights violations affecting Syria’s Alawite community and other civilians. The statement, signed by Ambassador Chimbo Obieze, Special Envoy and Chairperson of the Movement’s Nigeria Chapter, calls on international bodies, humanitarian agencies, and community leaders to take urgent protective action.

The appeal condemns violence and persecution directed at people because of their religious, ethnic, or social identity, framing the protection of civilian life as a shared global responsibility rather than a matter confined to any single community or government.

Every human life has dignity and value, and every community deserves protection, justice, and respect. The Abrahamic Movement, Nigeria Chapter

Calls to Action

The statement directs its appeal to relevant authorities, international organizations, humanitarian agencies, and community leaders, urging a coordinated response to the reported violence.

The Abrahamic Movement’s Appeal Calls For:

  • Urgent protection of civilians in affected areas
  • Investigation of allegations of killings and abuses
  • Humanitarian assistance to affected communities
  • Accountability for those responsible for the violence

The Movement warned against international silence in the face of civilian suffering, describing the protection of human dignity and human rights as a responsibility shared by all nations and communities.

A Vision for a Pluralistic Syria

The statement closes with a call for a Syria in which Alawites, Sunnis, Christians, Druze, Kurds, and all communities can live in security, freedom, and mutual respect — positioning the appeal within the Abrahamic Movement’s broader mission of interfaith solidarity and the protection of vulnerable communities regardless of faith, ethnicity, or background.
